Canon SLRs have a lager lens mount than Nikons, which allows them to take F-mount lenses with an adapter. That means you have to resort to stop-down metering, though, which can be annoying. I've heard of plenty of people doing this, but they were usually people who used to use Nikon F SLRs with great old lenses that they didn't want to give up when they moved to Canon. Surely an organization with huge photography resources, such as a large daily newspaper, would buy lenses to match their cameras?
Not with the Nikkor wide-angle superiority, apparently. I shot a press conference today, and a guy from the Daily News showed up, a 1d Mark II and 70-200 IS slung over his shoulder. A pretty standard combination, but not the best choice for the tight quarters, I thought. Apparently he agreed, since as soon as he entered the room, he switched lenses. What was that I saw? A black lens? A golden ring? It looked like he had a Nikkor 17-35mm f/2.8. It makes sense, since it's a better lens than the Canon alternatives, and I'm sure he'd always want to use it wide open anyway, but it made me take a second look.
Is anyone else here using Nikkors on a Canon or other camera?
