About Nicholas Ridley ruined this town

The disempowerment of local authorities, town planners and the public sector during the 1980s - particularly during Nicholas Ridley's tenure as Secretary of State for the Environment - created the out of town retail park landscape we have today. These are dispiriting places which render everywhere the same.
