Bagelworks - Ordering the Prints and Frames

view profile

StarrGazr is a group administrator StarrGazr  Pro User  says:

Okay, the time many have been waiting for, the time to place our framing order.

If you are using Yale Framing, Art to Frames, please read the following post and follow the directions carefully to avoid any problems. Use this thread for any questions pertaining to the ordering of your print and frame. And please post here once you have placed your order so we can keep a running list of who's work is ordered and expected.

So far, I have the following as choosing to print with Yale:

.1. Tracy Lee
.2. Tim
.3. Rob
.4. Kelli
.5. Jeff
.6. erik.swenson
.7. Mike Dailey (Winged Foot)
.8. Larry
.9. Julie - cheezfud
10. Jim Salge
11. Glen (Mountain View Photography)
12. Jacob (rothritchie)
13. Tim Golden
14. Ed
15. Jason Meserve

* BOLD denotes that you have said that you have ordered your frame

If I have missed you, please let me know and I will add you to the list.

Directions for Framing

Make sure you have a large sized image on your computer, ready to upload. As stated previously:<blockquote? In order to have an 11 x 14 print produced from your digital image, you would need to have an original image that is a minimum of 2200 x 2800 pixels (about 6 megapixels) to get a good result at 200 ppi (pixels per inch). To get excellent results, you should use a file that is 3300 x 4200 pixels (about 14 megapixels). These are guidelines.

Once you are ready, head out to Art to Frames website.

Log in to the website:

1. Upload your image from your computer.

2. Choose size and paper type.
- I recommend picking a print size somewhere between 11x14 and 16x20. (Sizes will be different depending upon your photos aspect ratio. My print is 17x11.25)

3. Choose frame mats and glass options - I highly recommend you use the Satin paper option. Glass choices will affect your final price.

4. Add to cart

5. Click checkout

6. Sign in

7. Add comments
- in order to receive your 15% discount for framing for this showing, you MUST put in the comments section

NH Flickr Group - Bagelworks Show

Pleas also include you Flickr ID.

DEMO:

A short demo with no audio was made to make things easier. Can can view either at the following addresses:

Windows Media - 1.95MB

Flash - 8.89MB

SHIPPING:

Have your order shipped to:

Julia Freeman-Woolpert
Disabilities Rights Center
18 Low Avenue
Concord, NH 03301

Yale will hold your order until they are all completed and ship them to Julia in Concord next week.

A FEW MORE NOTES

FRAME

The frame being used is the default frame. If you select another frames while playing around in the system the frame number is 1451 and it is in the Noir group.

MAT

The mats that you should choose have their standard superhite mat on top and black on the bottom. (The black second mat is optional and costs a little bit more)

PAPER

The satin paper is the paper with the best color gamout /density.

SIZE

The size of the image. Each person's camera is different and will all have different sizes. i.e. my image is 17 x 11.25 and Tim Golden's is 15.5 x 11. Try to pick a size from the choices given that are as close to these measurements as possible. They don't have to be identical, but should be in the same range.

IMAGES

Images should not be converted to CMYK. They print through RGB so they will be loosing color and gaining nothing by switching your image to CMYK.

CHECKOUT

If using google checkout, there is no place for comments. Please make sure that you use Julia's address and that you use it as your shipping address. That is the ONLY way they will know that your order is an order for the show and you will get your discount and the final work will end up where it needs to be.

UPLOADING

The flash upload tool doesn't work sometimes. If you have trouble uploading your photo, you can use the alternate upload tool online (linked below the Flash uploader. I have had to use this tool every time) or email support@arttoframes.com for FTP access.

FILES

File types can be JPG or TIF. all other types must converted to one of these for proccessing on their website. They can use other filetypes to print once the order is placed. Leave a message in the comments.

ANY questions, please do not hesitate to ask. Use this thread for ordering info ONLY.

Please post here once you have made your order.

Tracy Lee (or anyone) -- Before I order, are we going with a consistent frame size, and if so, what size? I was assuming 16 x 20 until I saw your mention of a 16 x 20 print size. Now I'm unsure.

view photostream

StarrGazr is a group administrator StarrGazr  Pro User  says:

Larry, use my size as a guideline. My final framed size is 23.5 x 17.75

Everyone's size is going to be a bit different, it is just the nature of the beast and one of the reasons I really like custom framing. You don't have to crop your image at all, whereas standardized sizing doesn't always work well with today's camera aspect ratios. DSLRs have different ratios than point and shoots, and full sensor DSLRs are different still.

In the long run, use your judgement. 16" x 20" final framed size (11" x 14" print) is the smallest I would go.

I hope this helps!

To the rest of you, time is running out!! PLEASE place your order today or tomorrow to insure it gets delivered by Wednesday!!

Thursday Julie and I are going to be reviewing everyone's order to insure we have all we need. If you don't place your order, we will have nothing to hang for you.

Just another reminder, I am leaving tomorrow morning and will not be returning until Sunday evening. I will NOT be near a computer and the BlackBerry will be off most of the time. I will be camping out on Nantucket with my son's Boy Scout troop. So, if you need anything from me, please ask today!

I was about to place my order, and as I got to the ned, a question came up.

I thought I would forgo the second (black) mat. 13 dollars is a bit steep for the nice bead. Is this okay? If I will stand out too much by doing so, I can add it back in (I saved it in my cart). It is not a huge deal if you all think I should have it.

Thank you.

Order placed.

It's a shame to only do this one show with this collective work. Are there any plans to try and secure another venue after this is done?

Also if we are interested in selling our photo what do we need to do.

StarrGazr is a group administrator StarrGazr  Pro User  says:

Tim, Ed and Kelli -- THANK YOU!

Jason, I had posted somewhere in the myriad of info that doing both mats is not required. The second mat is totally optional!

So...go for it! :)

PLEASE NOTE: The orders will be shipped out from Art to Frames on MONDAY!

PLEASE BE SURE TO GET YOUR ORDER PLACED!

Kelli, in regards to doing another show, I totally agree with you and have talked to the co-ordinator of the restaurant where I am now showing. It looks like they may have someone lined up for August. I'll keep trying.

If anyone knows of any other venues that might accept our work, please feel free to contact them or let me know and I will contact them.

As for sales, if I remember correctly, Julia said that Bagelworks takes 10%. I am not sure how they work it. But I assume you can either sell it right away (and replace it) or leave it hanging for the month and sell it at the end. Honestly, I haven't gotten that far in my thinking as far as the details go.

I just emailed support, I may add the second matte after all, it is worth it for continuity and does look nicer (even though I know it is optional). My order is set though. I will only change it if it does not affect time of delivery. Thank you all again for your support. Especially TL.

Excellent Jason! Aaron should be able to help you without affecting delivery time. Those guys are really fantastic! Tim, that would be great if you and Glen could get something rolling in there. There must be many places throughout the state, we just have to find them.

A note about pricing and our discount from ArtToFrames.

My order total came to $73.80 (that included shipping).

15% discount should be $11.07, for a subtotal of $62.73.

I checked my credit card online and I was charged a total of $64.03

Not a huge deal obviously ($1.30 difference), but wanted to put it out there, I'd be interested for others to check and see if they were charged what they believe to be the right amount.
