About New York History
The idea of this group is for everyone to learn more about New York city (all five boroughs) through our pictures. For now, interaction with this group goes along these lines:
1. Post a photo that you think is particularly important in New York history, or a photo that you would like to know more about. Let's limit posting to 5 a day.
2. If you already know some things about your picture, use the description of the image to tell us everything you know.
3. Scan the images in the pool and see if there is anything of which you have particular knowledge.
4. Once you have found something comment on the photo and let everyone know some of the history of the contents of the picture.
Here are some samples of what I mean by "knowledge" of a photo:
1. A building's architect
2. A building's architecture style and why it is important
3. How a building affected a neighborhood or how it reflected the times when it was built
4. A building's completion date
5. Famous events that have taken place in the vicinity of the picture
6. Miscellaneous factoids about the scene
Also, it would be nice if when making comments on someone’s picture you use this template:
