About I hear they have special balls.

This group is for Sydneysiders who are travelling to Germany for the 2006 Football World Cup, or - why not? - for Berlinites who meet a Sydneysider in town for the games. Show your photos to friends and family as you travel, make plans and arrangements in the discussion list, even make travel contacts as you go. This internet really is a nifty invention, isn't it?

It is not _about_ the World Cup, so much, as it is about the adventures of those brave blokes and sheilas who carry the flags of football (take your pick, mate), meatpies, kangaroos and holden cars, to be waved in the faces of the wurst-loving, lederhosen'd volkswagen drivers - and any others who get in their way - on the ancient and venerable testing-ground of soccer(okaybloodyFOOTBALLareyouhappynow?).

(Or something. I'm tired and don't have to make sense. Hell, it can be photos of your cat's bum, for all I care. Remember: it's all a lark.)

Just get on with it and post your photos, you lucky bastards. I'll try to have the sheltered sweatshop cleared out before you get home.

NB: since it's more than possible that you're new to this Flickr thing, here's some handy hints:

* How to join a group: first, sign up for a Flickr account (link at the top of page). It's free, and as easy as getting any internet account, like email etc. Then come back to this group page. While you're logged into your account, you'll see a "Join this group?" link. That's the one. Click on it, and again to confirm on the page that appears after. You will then be a member of the illustrious Newtown-Berlin Co-operation League, and a carrier of the flame of further Austral-German cultural exchange and understanding (think: Kraftwerk as covered by AC/DC. Or vice versa). Don't worry, you don't really have to be from Newtown or Berlin to join ;-)

* How to upload a photo: via You>Upload. Use the browse buttons to search for and select your photos. You can also pre-set the public/private preference for the photo on this page. Hit "Upload" when you're ready, and presto!

* How to add photos to a group: Once a photo is uploaded to your personal Flickr photostream, it can be added to any group you belong to, via the "Send to group" button above the image on the individual photo page (as opposed to your photostream homepage), or via the Groups tab on the "Organise" page (handy for multiple processing, just drag and drop the images from the bottom of the page). Your photo should now be in the group "pool," as well as staying in your own photostream.

* Study the menus carefully. There's a lot of useful stuff in there, like seeing new comments on your photos, or who has replied to comments you made elsewhere. But I expect you'll be too busy having a holiday to fart around with that.
