About New Deal Legacy
The Great Depression was one of the pivotal events in US history, ranking right up there with the War Between the States and World War II. Public works and employment programs constituted much of President Roosevelt's effort to fight the Depression. Agencies such as the Works Progress Administration (WPA), Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), and Public Works Administration (PWA) tried to improve America's infrastructure while putting Americans back to work. Many of our parks were built or improved by workers for the CCC. The WPA built countless bridges, post offices, buildings, and other public works. Branches of the WPA, Farm Security Administration, and other agencies employed writers, artists, dramatists, and actors to write books, produce plays, document the effects of the Depression photographically, and create public art.
This pool celebrates the vision of these programs; any buildings, roads, posters, books, ephemera, etc., related to these programs are welcome here
