Thanks!
I asked my man, he was super nice about it.
I think if you see someone you would like to take a picture of, make a nice comment about them like "wow, I really like your hair, would you mind if I took your picture?" or whatever. My husband could just crawl under a rock when I do this kinda thing. I love talking to people and can carry on a conversation with anyone about anything. This gentleman was a street corner performer after he sang to me. I hung around with him for a bit and just talked to him. He seemed very happy that I was interested in him and what he had to say.

Admitedly not specifically for this Mission, but I'm too sick to go out at the moment. );
I was doing a photoshoot at my cousin's dorm. This is her roomate. Needless to say, she wasn't expecting me to show up and take her picture. I love her cute embarrassed expression, and her crazy hair. =)

stellaretriever I know how that goes, I have a son that is pretty shy.
If your out and see someone walking their dog you could compliment how cute their dog is and ask to take a picture of it?
Or use that zoom and catch em without them knowing LOL
I'm going on the stranger hunt in the morning to find more :o)

Nursing a cold here as well. Boy, it's hard to keep up with all these missions! Many times, I have wanted to stop a stranger and ask if could take a picture, but I always let the thought pass, too shy, afraid to arouse hostility... It's going to be unseasonably warm this weekend (90ties!), and I just joined a hiking group, so perhaps I get the chance to take a stranger picture :)

Dang, -17 and that's probably in those Farenheit things. I can't even begin to imagine how cold that must be.
Love your guitar player, what a happy looking fellow.
This looks great, a well captured moment in time. They do not seem aware of the camera.
Nice capture, those "No don't take a picture of me" moments often turn up some priceless shots.

Yup, Farenheit. Warmed up pretty nicely throughout the day. They predict 40's with rain tomorrow. Unfortunately, this will probably cause some melting which will lead to flooding.

I tried this today
I am pretty shy but I got up the nerve. I asked the girl at the drive through
She said no :( then she went on to tell me that she hates her picture taken because she feels like she is too fat
I told her she was thin but I know that means little coming from an overweight person :(
really sad she was really almost too thin :( and she was pretty and interesting.
oh well next time :)

pygmylover, We live in a non-fashion conscious small town. That IS the fashion here, (if we wear socks at all.) I like the way that neither of his feet are touching the road.
Your photo is awesome! I feel so sad and lonely, just looking at it. I'll have to tell myself that actually, she was feeding a squirrel (which I cannot see), while waiting for her two friends who always meet her there, on Fridays, to go skateboarding. Okay, maybe not skateboarding? Maybe they go to the Seniors' Centre to drink coffee and play cards?
~Mary-Ann~, you deserve credit for asking someone sober. I have to stick with drunks and telephoto shots. LOL

Soccermomjess and I went to a nearby town known for it's antiques and spent the day photowalking. We found a great old time general store there. I know that there is a lot going on here but you can almost read the story. There are two ladies in the foreground who have each just ordered a malt. The gentleman at the counter who is waiting for the girl behind it to dip up his ice cream. There is a young girl behind her who should probably not be on the phone. And way in the back you can see a man behind the Blue Bell sign making fresh pralines in the store window.
I steadied my camera on a sunglasses stand in order to not use the flash.

The funny thing is I have lots of pics of people that i have taken that I don't know - but if I spoke to them long enough to ask if i could take their picture, then they don't seem a starnger to me. Here are three such pics...

The most important stranger in the morning....

Are they still a stranger after you lose two games of chess to them at the car wash?

OK, strangers at the DMV after spending hours to pay taxes. The framing looks off because the major subjects for me were the garbage can on the right and the woman on the left who is becomming a character in my new novel.

Waiting at the Bus Stop

I didn't ask for either of these (shy). The couple was in front of me and I took the shot when they walked into the sunlight. The second photo was meant to be of a man who walked past me with a long flowing coat, but I didn't catch him. Instead I captured the girl's interesting expression.

serakatie, the expressions on the faces of both people in "Waiting at the Bus Stop" are priceless!
Think Floyd , I really like "Trekking with love", both for the composition and for the subject.
Tonight was our 25th anniversary. This guy was at a neaby table when we asked the waitress to take our photo. He moved so she could get a clearer view of us and pretended that he was going to join us in our photo. When she finished, I asked him, "Shall I take your picture now?"
I think he's a very interesting looking person. I wish I could have framed the photo better and included his other arm. I get too nervous around strangers and forget that I'm supposed to be making a good picture.
