The heading below might sound corny to some and the beginning might be a little difficult to take seriously, but I have written a real experience and not a fictional one designed to impress right from its first paragraph, I believe the further one will read the more convincing I will become.

Vidallia: An experience that led me to believe in the existence of God!

My father died on Wednesday November-1-1989 at around 5 am. Three days later while sleeping at around 5 am on Saturday November-4-1989, I saw in a vision an angel walk away from my fathers favorite chair, in my vision the room was the exact room NOT a strange room, NOT a surreal situation or place as nearly all dreams are, the room was definitely one of the rooms of my house! As the angel walked out of the room I heard a door close, the sound of the door closing was exactly the same of that that I heard many times while going through usual life in the house.

Immediately I woke up very frightened and sprang up, the first and only thing I said was: "I saw an angel", I said it in Greek. I live in Australia, my mother being Greek. As with almost everyone I was reared by mother the first language that I learned was Greek. At the time of my vision I would say that I spoke English 90 and Greek 10 percent of the time.

Continuing on, experts say that subconsciously before we speak we think in the first language that we have learned and then speak in the language that we are more accustomed to speaking, consciously I was much more accustomed to speaking the English language, but my response did not have time to go to the conscious level, and said in Greek, bang! straight out and without any hesitation or doubt, "eida ton aggelo" (I saw an angel), I had no doubt that I saw an angel, the assuredness was overwhelming! Mother and brother were asleep in other rooms of the house and they both heard and woke up upon me saying this. It is interesting how unconsciously I did not think of what I saw, I was asleep woke up and immediately said these three words that I never spoke before, I said I saw an angel and not I saw the Virgin Mary and since it was my father who died three days earlier I didn't even say I saw my father.

The Bible says God sends his messengers the angels to appear in peoples' dreams or visions.

"The angel of God said to me in the dream, 'Jacob.' I answered, 'Here I am.'" Bible verse: Genesis 31:11

"For God does speak now one way, now another though man may not perceive it. In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls on men as they slumber in their beds." Bible verse: (Job 33:14,15).

I have learned after my dream reading the Bible that no where does the Bible say that God will send the Virgin Mary to appear in dreams or to appear in real life situations, before like many are now I too would have been under the impression that the Virgin Mary makes these appearances this is especially true to the Greek Orthodox religion in which I was brought up in, but I did not know that then and unconsciously and with no hesitation said "eida ton aggelo" (I saw an angel). I had no doubt that that was an angel and I still have no doubt, this was no ordinary dream. The angel was dressed in a white gown not very bright and had no feet also the head was white, no black hair, all white from top to bottom, exactly as I learned afterwards the Bible describes the appearance of angels. I have since this vision read the Bible from cover to cover five times (doesn't that prove my experience real?)

The only images of angels that I have seen before my vision was of angels with wings, before that I thought that angels had wings, the angel in my vision had no wings.

Experts say that when you expect something your subconscious can bring it about in the state of sleep. I was not expecting it to happen that is for sure, never did it enter my mind that I might one day have a vision of an angel, NEVER!!!! Nor was I under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and psychiatrically I have always been very sound.

The Bible mentions many times that God communicates to people through dreams, (Job 33:14,15,16), Joseph is one "Joseph had a dream, and when he told it to his brothers, they hated him all the more" (Genesis 37:5), and Daniel the prophet had similar experiences, and also the Apostle Paul: "And a vision appeared to Paul in the night: a man of Macedonia was standing beseeching him and saying, 'Come over to Macedonia and help us.' And when he had seen the vision, immediately we sought to go on into Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to preach the gospel to them." (Acts 16:9-10). These dreams or visions had left them with a deep impression that is why they were able to be remembered and be recorded in the Bible years after the dreams or visions occurred. Almost twenty two years ago now since then and I have dreamt thousands of dreams, but I don’t even remember what I dreamt last night or last week or last month, but I remember this vision as if it happened 10 seconds ago, it has left a "stamp" in my mind!

In all my sleeping life I have never been awakened by a dream, or a nightmare, only this once, which was on the third day of my fathers death, I didn't look at the clock to see the time I woke, but am certain that it was nearing the early dawn hours, even when one does not look at a clock one has a sense of whereabouts the day is throughout the 24 hour period, I am certain that it was close to the dawning of the new day, the time of my fathers death was around 5 am.

As it looks, the appearance in the vision of the angel happened exactly on the full completion of the third day of my fathers death. The third day is of immense importance to all humanity the Bible says Jesus Christ was resurrected on the third day!!!!

Finally this vision (experience) was a once in a lifetime for me, consider this, the average life span is around 80 years, 80 x 365 days in a year = 29200 days. If this happened to me on a normal day or period of my life it wouldn't have had such an impact, the fact that it happened on the third day of the death of a family member is most profound, the third day I repeat is the day of most importance to the human family, the resurrection of Jesus Christ. What are the odds then? 29200 days in an average life span, and it only happens on the third day of the death of a family member, Jesus Christ died and was risen on the third day, it can only be a divine showing!

To be precise at the time of this writing I am now 50 years of age, which means I have been alive for 18250 days, the only time I have had an experience like this was on the third day following my fathers death, and it is the only time in my life that I said I saw an angel!!!

THE NUMBER THREE

IT IS CLEAR THAT GOD DOES THINGS WITH THE NUMBER THREE (three days, times, hours), this I learned after my vision reading the Bible.

Jesus started his ministry when he was thirty years old and continued to the time of his death/resurrection at the age of thirty three, a total of three years ministry.

Jesus said to him, "Truly I say to you, this very night, before the cock crows, you will deny me three times." Bible verse: Matthew 26:34

Then Peter remembered the word Jesus had spoken: "Before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times." Bible verse: Matthew 26:75

"And it was the third hour, when they crucified him." Bible verse: Mark 15:25

"Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over the land until the ninth hour." Bible verse: Matthew 27:45. When Jesus died on the cross a total of three hours darkness followed.

The famous prayer of Jesus praying to the father three times: "My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will." Bible verses: Matthew 26:41-45

So he left them and went away once more and prayed the third time, saying the same thing. Bible verse: Matthew 26:44

"And the Lord appointed a great fish to swallow up Jonah: and Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights." Bible verse: Jonah 1:17

"For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the whale, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth." Bible verse: Matthew 12:40

"After three days they found him (Jesus) in the temple, sitting among the teachers, listening to them asking them questions;" Bible verse: Luke 2:46

Jesus answered them, "Destroy this temple and in three days I will raise it up." Bible verse: John 2:19

This above really proves what I am saying, no other number is used in the Bible as is number three no other number even comes comparatively close, I did not know that before my dream I learned it afterwards, God through the angel in my dream revealed to me that he is real on the third day after my father died!!!

"Three times I besought the Lord about this that it should leave me" Bible verse: 2 Corinthians 12:8. The Apostle Paul prayed three times about a matter.

According to eyewitness the Apostle Paul was executed by the Romans by having his head cut off by a sword, when Paul's head fell to the ground it bounced three times, immediately next to the head miraculously three small water fountains appeared.

"And for three days he was without sight, and neither ate nor drank." Acts 9:9. This refers to after the incident that led to Paul's conversion.

SOME WITH DREAMS OF ANGELS

He had a dream in which he saw a stairway resting on the earth, with its top reaching to heaven, and the angels of God were ascending and descending on it. Bible verse: Genesis 28:12

But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, "Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. Bible verse: Matthew 1:20

[ The Escape to Egypt ] When they had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. "Get up," he said, "take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill him." Bible verse: Matthew 2:13

[ The Return to Nazareth ] After Herod died, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt Bible verse: Matthew 2:19

SOME WITH THE APPEARANCE OF ANGELS (how angels are dressed)

Cornelius answered: "Four days ago I was in my house praying at this hour, at three in the afternoon. Suddenly a man in shining clothes stood before me. Bible verse: Acts 10:30

Out of the temple came the seven angels with the seven plagues. They were dressed in clean, shining linen and wore golden sashes around their chests. Bible verse: Revelation 15:6

Mary stood outside the tomb crying. As she wept, she bent over to look into the tomb and saw two angels in white, seated where Jesus' body had been, one at the head and the other at the foot. They asked her, "Woman, why are you crying?" Bible verses: John 20:11-13

I will write it again and this time three times as it is clear God does things with the number three, writing this below three times will register in the mind of the one reading this that I am one who God showed he is real, and if God is real for one then he is real for all!!!

This is how God chose to show me that he is real, some might say it is simple, it might be simple but very effective, if it was not for this I would now probably be atheist or someone who wanted to believe but found it difficult to, I now believe!!!!

P.S. I have done some reading from experts on dreams, and recently I saw a documentary on the subject, what I learned made me believe even more that my vision was a real divine showing!
