About NestWatchers

Calling all nest monitors to share photos from their nest monitoring experiences!

This is a public group administered by the NestWatch project at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, located in Sapsucker Woods, Ithaca, New York.

This is a place for people to post, share, and discuss pictures of birds, whether you have ID questions, nest monitoring questions, or you saw something really cool and want to share!

Please read the Group Rules before joining. We request that you grant us permission to use your photos on the Cornell Lab of Ornithology's website. In this way, we hope to turn the resources and generosity of the birding community toward helping us in our mission of conservation.

You may also be interested in other Lab-related Flickr groups, including eBird's rarities group, NestCams, Great Backyard Bird Count photos, Neotropical birds, and photos from Sapsucker Woods. Check out the Lab's NestWatch page on Facebook

Finally, a quick plea to take a moment to tag your photos with at least the following tags:
common name, if you know it
scientific name, if you know it
the state (or province) where the photograph was taken
the date you took the photo (at least the month) This will be of great use to people interested in migration, molt, and other seasonal topics.

(Two caveats: If your camera stores the date and it comes through when you upload your photo - and if your camera's date is set correctly! - you don't need to add a separate tag. Likewise, if you geotag your photo you don't need to add a separate location tag.)

Other recommended tags that we'd love it if you added:
citizenscience>if you are collecting data for a citizen science project
people if the people are in the picture
nestbox if you the nest site is a nest box
feederfeeder for birds at feeders
youngyoung if chicks, juveniles, or young are in the picture
nest if a nest is pictured
urban if the bird is in a city or town
prey if the bird has captured or is eating any kind of animal
captive if the bird is at a zoo or aviary
hand if it's a photo of a bird in the hand
flock if the picture is of a group of birds

Other tag suggestions are welcome!
