About Nedinsco
The Nedinsco building in Venlo, The Netherlands. Architect: Hans Schlag, built in 1920 - 1923 by Dywidag.
Nedinsco was originally owned by Carl Zeiss Jena. According to the treaty of Versailles of 1919, where Germany was forced to stop the production of weapons, Carl Zeiss continued the production of optical instruments for the militairy industry in Venlo.
The company Nedinsco still exists. The firm is now located in a new building somewhere else in Venlo.
The Nedinsco building is on the national list of preserved buildings because of its unique architecture in a Bauhaus like style and its link with the Modern Movement. At the moment the local Government of Venlo is seeking a new function for the derelict building in order to preserve it for the future. Venlo will decide within a few months what will be this new function. The building is part of a new urban plan for the city.
