05 Nov 07 - Can we geo-tag our pictures, please. Use the location of the buoy rather than that of the camera. Thanks, Mud Hopper (admin)

About buoys of the world

This group is for navigation bouys "on the high seas and navigable waters connected with the high seas".
Not included are fishing markers, mooring bouys, scientific buoys, etc.
Also they must be on the water, not laid up. Note should be made, if known, if they are off station.

It is an attempt to get pictures of as many of them as possible on one site rather than a striving for artistic excellence. Go for ones we haven't got, but dont be afraid to add a much better picture of an example we already have.

Title them with name or number and the name of the channel, hazard or nearest port and Where possible the lat and long.(Don't worry if you dont know this, some pedant will soon put it in).
Tag then with type (again help will no doubt appear) and area (e.g. "Thames estuary" or "Hong Kong harbour").

Why? Perhaps because they are dutiful and seem a bit lonely.
