About Nature of the Beast
**Please don't flood the pool with more than 3 at a time, or many shots that are very similar. I'll pick a favorite, and delete the rest, but feel free to resubmit another time. :) Also, zoo shots that show alot of the enclosure, fencing, etc, will be removed. Frankly, they bum me out. **
Beasts are noble, powerful, touching, full of soul, life, hunger, dignity, and joy. This is a home for a celebration in images of the beast - images that say something (more than just "cute" or "pretty"). It can be those things, sure, but it must have MOOD - speak to the nobility, vulnerability, beauty, and sadness of my critter friends. It should celebrate them, but the real them, not the bow in their hair, sittin in a basket them, capture the innate dignity of these beings, wild or domestic.
So for cute kittens or puppies, this is not the place. It's easy to photograph a critter, but not so easy to photograph them well. I want to see the soul. Got something stark, something with guts, something striking? Make me do more than feel, make me think. Make me laugh, make me cry, but make me feel the essence of the creature in your photograph.
*In the interests of keeping this group on track, I will remove images that don't really fit the idea of it. Not sure something will fit the ideas of this group? Just post a discussion about it, or email me. There are some amazing animals out there, and I know you have captured them in amazing ways. Do share... :)
*Update: I've decided that zoo shots don't generally fit with the idea of the group. If you have a really special shot taken in a zoo, please add it, but there's something about fences and fake boulders that take away from the most lovely creature. Apologies to those I will be removing, and thank you for all the great images in the pool!
