About Nature Abstracted
Why another abstract group? The idea came out of discussions on a couple of other pools. Its hard to make a good abstract from nature, its organic forms and textures are so recognizable that we tend to see "leaf" or "water" before we notice the qualities of line or shape or form that can make a good abstract. There are groups out there that focus on patterns in nature, or textures in nature but I couldn't find one that encompassed all abstracts made from natural subjects.
Rules will be strict here and photos are moderated. The image must be abstract, with line, form, color, shape and composition taking precedence over what the image is abstracted from. However, because nature can be "hard to hide" as it were, the pool will not be as strict as some of the abstract groups where "if you can recognize it," its out.
The image must be from nature and I would prefer if the subject is listed in the tags. Man made objects or humans may be only peripherally part of the composition, the main subject should be the natural world. Photoshop is OK within reason, as long as the subject is clearly recognizable still as belonging within our natural world.
I'm reserving the right to change this description as I see what comes in, and what the pool develops into, examples will be forthcoming as I get some in.
What this isn't is a pool for minimalist images that are not abstract (the popular flower against the sky for example), surreal images that are not abstract visually, or any pretty flower macro or colorful sunset or water reflection. There must be a truly abstract conception behind the photo as well as a natural subject.
No nudes please, in general the human subject while ostensibly part of the natural world should be avoided there are enough forums for human subjects.
Invite code if you would like to ask a photo to the pool, invited photos are currently still moderated.
