About The nature of flickr...a survey of sorts
To anyone interested in flickr and willing to talk about how and why they use it, this group will pose a set of questions in the hopes of generating a dialogue about flickr and its use of photography.
I should be up-front and tell people that I am a Ph.D. student in art history, specializing in photo history. I am currently writing a paper on flickr for a seminar on vernacular photography. As part of my project I am interested in discussing the nature of flickr and how members make use of its various resources. Ultimately I will use aspects of my research for an in-class presentation, then write it up as a final paper. I may or may not end up publishing the paper some time down the road.
Although these questions are posed as part of my research, I am genuinely interested in flickr and photography (which is why I am pursuing a Ph.D. in photo history) and would enjoy any discussions initiated as a result.
Here are a few of the questions I am hoping people can answer:
(Please feel free to discuss any issues relating to flickr.)
How do you use flickr? Do you share your photos with friends and family or make them available publicly? Why? Do you participate in Flickr's many forums and groups? How many photographs do you currently have on flickr? How did learn about flickr? Do you tag your photos? How do you search photos? Do you comment on photos you like?
Thank you for participating.
