02 Sep 11 - Pictures in this group are to be natural. Nothing 'manmade' in the shot, meaning no peeling paint or rust, etc. No manipulation of shots to abstract them. No bugs. Butterflies or moths the exception if photo shows distinct pattern(s) on wings. Closer, tighter shots desired. Color perferable. This isn't the group for most flower shots or general water reflections pics, though some exceptions will be allowed. Because we are dealing with abstracts, the subject/location of each picture should...

About Nature's Abstracts (Layers, patterns, veining, texture)

Natural abstract design. Defination: "Art not representing things realistically." Close-ups of patterns and coloration and designs in rocks, wood, sand and ice are the types of picture wanted. Emphasis is on QUALITY pictures that show abstract patterns found in nature which were created by nature. Sunsets, cloud patterns and water reflections are not encouraged.

Pictures can be of natural patterns like those found in oyster shells or sea shells, abstract scenes created by plant tendrils, droplets of water, water ripples, patterns in rocks or soil, wood burls and knots in wood, and frozen ice designs. Snow swirls or frost formations on windows, or animal prints in the snow are also fine. Occassional close-ups of flowers or leaves allowed if they show distinct veining and repeated pattern. Piles of debris or decay or rust isn't what is meant by natural.

Subject matter of pictures should vary from each contributer. Pictures should not be contrived or digitally manufactured. Contents must be created and placed by nature.

Pictures can be individual objects (single rock with textures, striation, jagged corners), or objects in groups (pile of textured rocks). Most objects will be in duller shades of grey, brown, or green. The focus must be on the design created by the object itself. Please limit b/w pictures. "Dumpr.net" shots are NOT natural abstracts.

Photos are not be manipulated, enhanced, further abstracted, or photo-shopped. No more than 1 mosiac or collage per person allowed. (The idea is close-ups of a single kind of subject...) Subject content should be recognizable. If not, provide identification, including 'what' and 'where'.

Some examples of what I'm looking for are located here: www.flickr.com/photos/earthcare13/239927504/

Administrator will remove pictures not in keeping with the theme/stated guidelines.
