About Native American Portraits

This group is a showcase for historical photographic portraits of Native Americans. Submissions may depict people indigenous to both North and South America, from Alaska to Tierra del Fuego, including but not limited to those peoples popularly known as "American Indians".

Photos from before 1960 are preferred, and as much information about the person or persons in the photographs should be included in the caption. The group pool also accepts modern photo portraits of Native Americans as well as vintage (pre-1960) illustrations.

PLEASE: No modern or original artwork -- this includes modern paintings, drawings and photographic images that have been extensively photoshopped. There are many other groups where you can display your artwork. And please do not take it personally if your offerings have been deleted from the group. The original idea for this group was to showcase historical photographs of Native Americans only, but some people began adding modern photos and these seemed to fit in well -- so the description was slightly revised.
