- Gesäuse
- Kalkalpen
- Hohe Tauern
- Neusiedlersee - Seewinkel
- Thayatal

Nationalparks nehmen eine besondere Stellung in der Naturschutzpolitik ein. Sie sind nicht nur für Österreich bedeutend, sondern auch von internationalem Interesse. Bisher wurden sechs der ökologisch wertvollsten Regionen Österreichs zu Nationalparks erklärt. Sie erstrecken sich mit 2.350 km² auf ca. 3% des Staatsgebietes.
