The museum

The National Museum of Rural Life is part of National Museums Scotland, the country's national museum service, in partnership with the National Trust for Scotland. We've got a 1950s working farm with dairy cows, sheep, pigs and farm experts on hand. You can see seasonal crops growing, take tractor-trailer rides and enjoy special events, farmland walks and spectacular views. There are 170 acres, including farmland, species rich grassland and woodland. Our award-winning museum building telling the story of the Scottish countryside and its evolution, while the Georgian farmhouse exhibits the furniture and effects of the Reid family.
