About National Heritage Areas
Congress has designated 40 regions as National Heritage Areas. These special places are home to unique historic and natural resources, as well as evolving cultural traditions. Located in 28 states across the country, National Heritage Areas support a partnership-based approach to conservation and sustainable economic development.
