|
This is the first Remix Challenge of the group. The theme is Retro Futurism.
The challenge is to remix one or more of the following images in a unique way. I dare you to go all out, get some textures, find other NASA images, combine them with some photos of your own.
Then upload your work, and then post a medium size photo in this discussion thread. You can also post your photo to the group pool!
Please make sure you link to the The NASA Remix project group and specifically the contest name NASA Remix Challenge 01 you can use the following code here between the lines below.

WOW, what a great idea! I've copied all 3 pics and I'll be trying at least one.
One thing though: What about the license on these pics? I know that most of NASA's pics are free to the public, but when we make our entry for the contest, should we use the BY Attribution license?

Amada,
Great question. All of these images are part of the public domain and are not protected by copyright. You can read more about it here:
grin.hq.nasa.gov/copyright.html
The two most important parts are that:
1.) NASA should be acknowledged as the source of its material.
2.) It is unlawful to falsely claim copyright or other rights in NASA material.
Number 1 can be solved easily with a credit or link to NASA.
Number two is a bit more complicated. Because to my understanding if you make a derivative work from a CC license like By attribution the derivative work does not need to have the same license and can be copyrighted as long as you give attribution to the original source of your material. I believe this is true for all CC licenses except Share alike. There for I also assume this privilege is true of non-copyrighted work such as the NASA archive.
So, its up to you as far as I understand. :-)
