About NaNoCraftMo
Inspired by National Novel Writing Month, NaNoCraftMo is a month-long group challenge to push yourself to create a novel-level set of crafts, from November 1 through midnight, November 30.
Rule 1 of NaNoCraftMo is: Set yourself a craft-related goal that you consider equivalent to a novel - state that goal publicly in this year's thread in the discussion section of this group by the end of October - and aim to achieve that goal during November.
A few possible goals, just to get your juices flowing:
1. Create a series of themed works that tell a story as complex as a novel.
2. Create at least one finished piece each day.
3. Work at least __ hours on your craft each day, each week, or during the month overall.
Like NaNoWriMo, this is about quantity, not quality. To quote from their site: "The kamikaze approach forces you to lower your expectations, take risks, and [create] on the fly."
Don't let perfectionism keep you from actually getting things done! Join us in pushing yourself to create, without endless tweaking and wibbling, taking apart and putting back together, and work in a concentrated burst of energy to accomplish your goal.
Again stealing NaNoWriMo's format, to recap:
What: Set yourself a craft-related goal that you consider equivalent to a novel, and accomplish that goal in a month's time.
Who: You! Me! Us! Everyone else you can drag in! The more, the merrier.
Why: To prove that you can. To see what you come up with. To have holiday presents for all your friends. To fill out your Etsy store. To have fun! To get over the fear of not getting it right and discover that you really can get it done.
When: You can sign up anytime by joining this Flickr group and posting your specific, personal goal in this year's Goal Thread in the discussion section. Creation begins November 1. To be added to the official list of winners, you must accomplish the craft-related, novel-equivalent goal you set for yourself and posted in the Goal Thread in advance by midnight, November 30.
Post photos here of what you create along the way, and we'll all cheer each other on and celebrate together!
