22 Mar 09 - Welcome to "Named After People." Have fun, and please read the group description before submitting your photos. Thanks!

This pool is NOT for photos of self-named stuff. "Ford" automobiles don't qualify because the company was Henry Ford's, but the Edsel does because Edsel Ford didn't name the car, it was his grandson who named it.

Some photos are only visible to pool members.

About Named After People

Shots of flowers, airports, candy bars, highways, shopping malls, ice cream flavors, bridges, stadiums, etc., named after PEOPLE. Real people, not fictional ones.

The namesake doesn't need to be famous (more people know Shea Stadium than the attorney after whom it's named), but it does have to be a real person.

"First Names" and businesses (e.g., "Sally's Nail Salon") don't count - - for that, consider The First-Name Basis Signage Project.

"Grant's Tomb" is another bad idea - - seeing as how he rests there. JFK is not, however, in JFK Airport, nor does he lie in Jersey City's "Kennedy Boulevard."

Hoping you get the drift.

Tags are important, because the pool has an index of the honored, and its driven by tags. Please add two tags to every submission:

1. "Named After People"
2. The namesake - - in as full form as reasonable. "Richard Nixon" is better then "Nixon."

Keep it safe for work.
