The cemetary in Manoa Valley? A nice shady lookout spot way up in back, lots of places to pick up lunch at Manoa Marketplace.

@hawaii is right, Manoa Chinese Cemetery has a great spot up top to eat lunch. I think only himakamaka get buried up there. I'll bring some salt to throw over our shoulders before we leave.

It's definitely important to be respectful. Still, the lookout spot is a longtime congregation point for drinkers, lovers, and ne'er-do-wells. Heck, cemeteries always have been! We at least will be making art and documenting this beautiful final resting space... and spending quality time with friends, of course.
Here's a map of where the point is situated in the graveyard. There's a very small rotunda where people park, but it's often already full of other hanger-outers! We've often just parked on the street well below and hiked up.

As I recall from when I went there last, the parking wasn't all that great. However it is a nice place to take photos and in my case helping my friends find a relative's grave when I was there in 2009. There are a lot of places to walk around and take pictures of. Flowers, mountains, gravestone markers, houses on the way up and down, etc. On a nice day this would be a good place. Don't know much about eating there but I guess it could work. Not that I am going since I work farther away from there and don't have that kind of time. But nevertheless an interesting place.

It's this Friday! Sounds like we're on for the Manoa Chinese Cemetery. Yes, parking is tricky; if you're feeling lucky, you can roll in and up and see if there's room up top. Otherwise, I'd just grab a street spot further down and walk up. I imagine the neighborhood is just begging for a photowalk, anyway!

Kaimana Pine: I'm not sure, but I think that's the official name. It's engraved in the monuments at the top of the hill near the shaded circle I pinned on the map.
wertheim: Hope you can make it, too! We tend to stick around our lunching spot for 90 minutes or more, before some cubicle drones like me run back to work while everyone else starts stalking the neighborhood!
!!wat_dat! Sorry we'll not have you, but life has its priorities!
My wife is going to try and join us (it's her birthday, and she'll probably have her new camera by then)!
