About My Week

This group is a personal documentary project.

Once a week, you post a photograph to the pool, and in the description you summarize - in as much or as little detail as you feel is needed - the events in your life over that past week.

The idea is for it to be a bit like a news story, with an accompanying graphic (the photo you choose), but also (if you choose to continue doing it for a while), it may become a valuable journal of your life, and a way to help you remember what was happening at different times.

Three points of clarification:

#1 You may only post one photo to the pool for each week's story. From the beginning, you should try to pick a day of the week which will be the one you will make your posts on.

#2 There is no time commitment to the group- you're welcome to do this for as long as you'd like, or as short as you'd like (For example, you might want to document an important month, or you might want to set yourself the goal of doing it for 52 weeks (a full year), or you may want to never stop.

#3 If you're going to document more than a few weeks in a row, you should probably make a set in your personal flickr account, so that you (and others) can follow your project easily. This will also make it more like a true journal or diary, with everything in one place.

#4 The image you choose for the week is up to you. The simplest thing is for it to be a photo you took, documenting something about your past week. It can be a place you went, or a thing you did, or even a picture of yourself. Sometimes, though, you may want to use an older image (if, for example, someone close to you passes away, you might choose to use a photo of them from your collection). This is completely acceptable.

#5 Finally, as I said above, your week in review can be as detailed as you want it to be. In it, you can link to other things (like other photos from your stream, or blog entries, weather reports, news articles, etcetera), and make it a very thorough document of what happened. Alternately, you can just 'hit the highlights' in a very basic manner, which in itself would be valuable to you when looking back at it later on. Some weeks, which all of us have, you might not want to write anything at all, but just let the image speak for itself. That's fine, too.
