MONTHLY THEME GROUP (Invite only)
Rules
Welcome to the Monthly Theme Group – an easy to use on-line digital photography
(invite only) group that requires members to provide a full constructive comment on submitted images. This is not a group for those who prefer to simply write “nice” or “attractive” when commenting on an image. We hope this simple rule will help everyone’s photography to improve by other members’ thoughtful and constructive comments and advice.
The rules of the group are very simple because we want you to enjoy the group!
At the start of each month a new THEME will be chosen, (e.g., speed; low light). The chosen topic will be “posted” in the Theme Group’s Home Page. The Administrators will choose the first two month’s themes.
You may only “post” up to THREE images on the chosen theme during the month of the competition. If you submit more than three images, an Administrator will indiscriminately delete any that exceed this number.

On the last day of the month, the monthly theme competition will close at 10 pm (22:00 hrs - GMT, London, and no further images will be allowed to be added. The Administrators will then draw up a discussion thread on the Home Page where members of the group nominate the three best images,showing a 'small' copy of the best image and marking them 1st, 2nd or 3rd, together with titles and authors. Once the voting discussion thread has been posted, you have SEVEN DAYS to vote for the images you consider are the best three entries depicting the theme, marking them 1st (with small image), 2nd and 3rd. (hopefully supported by good composition, technical skills, etc).
Example Voting Form: (Simply post a vote on the home page discussion thread, on the lines of : “My 1st Place is: “………..(image title)……by …..(photographer’s name)”. Also place a 'SMALL' copy of the image together with your vote. Followed by your 2nd and 3rd choices as above. (obviously you cannot vote for your own!).
The Administrators will notify the winner of the monthly competition as soon as possible. The winner’s name will also be placed on the Home Page.
In the event of a tie, the Administrators will decide upon the winner, paying particular regard to the qualities listed in (3) above.
The author of the winning image will decide on the subject for a following month’s theme.
The Administrators will compile a running total of the winning members each month. At the end of the 12th (monthly) round, the photographer with the highest number of winning marks will be awarded the prestigious title bestowed upon him or her as, “Monthly Theme Group Winner for (2009)”.
To enable the above, marks will be awarded to the three winning images as follows; 1st place 3 marks, 2nd place two marks, 3rd place 1 mark.
The Administrators encourage members to invite other photographers into the Monthly Theme Group (invite only). Just click on the 'Invite' button at the top of this page Or use the cut and paste Invite found at the bottom of the Home Page (Below). Please remind them to carefully read the simple rules before deciding to officially join up.
