Trickling from springs, flowing down rivers, filling broad lake basins, freshwater is the lifeblood of our planet. What watery scene has captured your camera's eye? To enter our contest, add your photos to the group and tag them with “momentumcontest-freshwater”. We'll publish the top submission in the next issue of Momentum magazine, which mails in September. Deadline: July 22, 2011 (CLOSED).

About Momentum Magazine Photo Contests

Published three times a year by the University of Minnesota's Institute on the Environment, Momentum magazine is a print, Web and multimedia forum for innovative thinking and doing. Momentum aims to transcend business as usual, looking at Earth’s most pressing challenges in entirely new ways. We’re moving the conversation forward—from global problems to game-changing solutions.

Each issue of Momentum magazine features a related photo contest. Entries will be judged by the Momentum editorial staff based on: (1) Relevance to theme (open to literal or creative interpretation -- photograph titles and captions including location are helpful), (2) Originality, (3) Quality (attention to composition, color, light, etc.). Please see "Group Rules".

Winner will receive: (1) Publication and credit in the upcoming issue of Momentum magazine, (2) The New Earth From Above: 365 Days hardcover book featuring Yann Arthus-Bertrand's aerial photographs of the earth.
