What would be in my town's Moleskine City Notebook:
1)Where all the nasty conveniece stores are located on Armory Blvd.
2)A guide to find out which line you should get into at Food Lion so you can get out of there in 30 minutes for one carton of milk. (I can't word this right, I'm saying the Food Lion only has like two lines open and you're always in line 10+ minutes there.)
3)A list of the hours for the local library--the hours when the mental computer hog isn't in there threatening people that is.
4) A map of all the cutaways the redneck truck drivers use to avoid red lights on Armory Blvd.
5) A Wal Mart directory 'cause Wal Mart is always rearranging things
6) In depth reviews of all three Subways.
7) A guide on how to get the best deal at Dairy Queen
8) A guide on how to get service at Advance Auto Parts/Autozone
9) A chart on how much money Curves takes away from your bank account in a year
10)An application for the International Paper Plant.
I guess I'm saying it would be a cold day in hell before my town deserved a Moleskine City Notebook?

SF should have one already. Speaking of which, anyone know where I can get one for Vienna by March 29, 2007? I looked on barnesandnoble.com, amazon.com, and at my local Border's. Can't find one. Please, I need help on this, it would be cool to have the Wien city notebook :-)
[later] nevermind. I found it at some place called shiptheweb.com.

Well, I don't live there anymore, but I think they need to do one for Philadelphia because:
1. The food is amazing. There are certain things you can only get there, like cheese steaks and bags of soft pretzels, but the city also has some of the finest restaurants in the country.
2. The Italian Market
3. 30th St. Station
4. Reading Terminal Market
5. The Museums
6. First Fridays
7. South Street
8. King of Prussia Mall
9. Rittenhouse Square
10. Boathouse Row
And I didn't even mention the historic sites - the first public library in the country, the mint, Old City, Society Hill, The Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, and they should include New Hope, even though it's quite a bit north of the city.
I think it should be the first American city on their list.

Baltimore, Maryland:
1) Birth of the Star Spangled Banner.
2) The Poe connection we share with other cities, but we have the most "literary" of football team names and his grave[s].
3) Mencken.
4) Frederick Douglass.
5) Because Baltimore is becoming increasingly walkable, bikable and mass -transtable, a boon to travelers.
6) To show travelers that there are cooler things than Harbor Place.
7) Our museums and universities and historical sites like Fort McHenry, the Shot Tower, Walter's, BMA, Hopkins, etc.
8) We have so many really cool neighborhoods like Little Italy, Hampden, Greek Town, Federal Hill, etc. that travelers would LOVE.
9) John Waters!
10) David Hasselhoff was born here, and they could put a little red dealy on the cover of the book like that fancy talking car had in the dashboard on "Knight Rider", complete with robotic sarcasm chip.

it's DC! i could just list off the smithsonian museums.
(i'd be equally happy with baltimore, as long as it somehow included the word "hon" as often as possible. the only thing one needs to know is baltimore is that everyone is going to call you "hon".)

Hey, Biffybeans:
"Not trying to be a smartypants, but the KOP Mall is located in KOP - not Philadelphia."
Yes, and New Hope is in New Hope, but it's all part of Philadelphia as far as I'm concerned. Plenty of people live in Center City and work in KOP, and a lot of people head for New Hope on the weekends. KOP, Valley Forge, and New Hope all figure into the historical aspects of the area, and that would be an essential part of a book about Philly. It all starts there.
Peace~

Top Ten Reasons Why My City Deserves a Moleskine Notebook:
Kansas City
1. We're on Rome's heels with the number of fountains.
2. We're BBQ-mad and need a way to sort out our restaurants.
3. A sweet art district which is mainly focused around the KC Art Institute (and the museums & gardens in that area.)
4. We span across two states which, besides the "my city takes up more states that -yours-" bragging rights, can be a tad confusing on the Kansas side.
5. Blue & Jazz crazy (+ nightlife)
6. Hemmingway used to write for our newspaper. *Coughs pointedly at Moleskine company*
7. A (huge, well-known, had a part in making America) river runs through it. (Did I mention Lewis & Clark stopped here?)
8. The City Market rocks.
9. We have a zoo.
10. We have so many districts, neighborhoods, parks, gardens, communities, and pure awesomeness.....we simply don't know what to do with ourselves.

I live in a town of 8000 people, so our city guide would fit in a cahier, but we still deserve one! :-)
1. Gordon Parks' birthplace and final resting place, and the location of the largest collection of Parks photos open to the public.
2. Fort: 1842-53 wild west frontier fort; 1861-65 civil war fort; Today a National Historic Site.
3. National Cemetery #1 which was established by Pres Lincoln in 1862.
4. Historic Victorian downtown with restaurants, shops, etc., with free parking.
5. Liberty Theatre where Steve Tyrell, Marilyn Maye and Queen Bey perform annually.
6. One Victorian mansion after another (some are B&B's and open for tours).
7. Courtland Aveda Day Spa, world's best pedicure & reflexology.
8. Dolly the Trolley tours, 50 mins of history for $5.
9. Festivals, galas, theme parties, wine tastings, fine arts, sports, parks, lake, and pretty much any activity you can think of.
10. It's clean, it's safe, and it's economical, and there's no part of town you can't explore, day or night.

2) And an Oasis fan
3) And that you must have the same accent as above
4) Because England and London are NOT the same thing and we don't all come from the Capital.
5) ... I've run out of reasons.
