I usually keep stickers on mine. Because I use each for so long i remember what each notebook is for by their stickers: Dutch Bros. coffee sticker, Oakley sticker, Intel emblem, and Geek Fury coffee sticker.
My other Moleskines, 2006 planner, pocket ruled reporter, large sketchbook, and a Cahier set, remain plain.

I'm wanting to mod the outsides of my moleskine. I'm pondering a kind of "inset" with decorative paper. My plan is to set the paper behind a the hole in the cover.
Has anyone ever tried cutting the oilskin? I have both hard and softcover moleskines that I'm tempted to try this on, unless any of you dissuade me. The cutouts will not be large enough to threaten the cover's stability.
Failing that, perhaps I'll try attaching the paper over the uncut oilskin with clear nail polish. :)

Brainstorm: The oilskin can be separated from the cover card for the soft notebooks. What if you separate a horizontal strip about 3cm tall, cut a viewing hole in the oilskin, and slip your Moo Minicards in? Moodskine?

It's basic html code. For example...

Insert the URL of your image file between the quotations. Also, if it is a file in your Flickr, I believe some linked code is provided when you view different sizes.

It's very easy to post YOUR OWN pic in someone ELSE's comments field.
o You just go to your pic,
o click on 'All Sizes',
o select the appropriate size (in this case, 'Small'),
o select and copy the html text that you'll find in the FIRST box,
o go to the person's photo that you want to paste your pic into,
o open a comment box,
o paste the html code you copied into this box,
o hit 'post comment'.
:O)

Mine has a Halloween sticker on it from Paperchase. A black cat and two Jack o' Lanterns, the cat is sitting on the biggest one. They look sort of like those vintage Halloween images you see on old posters and postcards :)

I was playing with some embroidery paints recently - the kind in the squeeze tubes with the ball-point - and tried painting a small flower on the black cover of a large sketch book to see if it would work. That was a couple of months ago and it hasn't scratched or rubbed off so I'm eventually going to paint it.
Has anyone else tried anything unusual on your cover that worked?

I haven't done this to a moley yet, but when I want pictures and such to stick to the front of a canson sketchbook I use acrylic medium. It protects the pictures, dries clear and is pretty sturdy - the pics lasted longer than the spine of the book.

My Moleskines are plain, but as a gift for my sister, I decorated one w/ the "La Poetisa" lotería card. The image -- #32 in the series by Teresa Villegas -- is of Sor Juana. To the end of the bookmark ribbon, I added a milagro charm and a bead. I wish I had taken a photo of it before I sent it to her!

mine are covered in dymo labels.
i have 3 moleskins, all the same size so down the edge of each one i've put it's use 'day planner', 'random' and '101 in 1001'.
then on the front and back covers i've put dymo label quotes/lyrics/etc such as -
"let your eyes drift easy into mine"
"the situation has me drinking every goddamn day and night"
"i dont care about winning i just want to play the game"
i can't recommend dymo labellers enough to everyone. i'm also using them to label my polaroid pictures before i put them in albums.
i'll try and get some pictures of my moleskins and put them up.

The first one is not a Moleskine, but it was my first of this type of notebook, before I discovered the real thing. Starting with my first real Moleskine, I began decorating the outside with something unique and the number of the particular journal. You can see that I've also become addicted to the minimalistic simplicity and tactile allure of the Dymo labels. Also, I got bored and attacked a package of Pocket Cahiers with cardstock cutouts of printed monogram type fonts.
