About Model Rooms

To tie in with the exhibition Model Rooms: History, Life, Architecture, at the Gateway Galleries 15 January - 6 March, we want you to submit your photos of rooms at the University of St Andrews. They might be grand, important rooms or they might be your hall, office or lecture theatre. Either way, we want to see them. A selection will be included in the exhibition.

Why are we doing an exhibition on rooms? Because visitors to St Andrews often wish to see “the University” and one way of doing this is by looking at its buildings. The University of St Andrews owns a range of buildings, which renowned architects have created and modified over time. You may recognise the outside of many of these buildings, but you are much less likely to have seen their interiors.

For this reason the exhibition will show scale models of eight of the University's finest rooms. These have been carefully crafted by architecture students at the Scott Sutherland School at Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen, and will give you a rare opportunity to see what they're like. But rooms are not just empty spaces. This is also your chance to see objects used inside and discover the fascinating stories which they help to tell.
