Here's a thought. Tell me if it's a bad one. We could, in cases where there is room for more photographers, have a second attendance list with no expectations of access to models. That would keep the model ratio high for the initial list while allowing attendance for more photographers.

Ben, when there is room, I think we should allow more photographers. What is the reason we cannot simply make it a bigger group? Additionally, I think on the announcement above this blog, you should make it clear that if someone does not show, they still pay for the model for their slot unless a wait list person came and paid in their place. It is not fair to you and the rest of us otherwise.

I believe there is a practical limit to the number of photographers, models and makeup artists we can have at a meetup without expending a great deal of effort on coordination. There is certainly an ideal ratio of models/photographers/MUAs.
If I were to require people to pay regardless of their attendance, then someone would have to collect from them, which would also require a great deal of effort. It would be much simpler to deny them attendance to the next meetup.

Since we had a lot of no no-shows last time, I added a request to the description that you please let us know here if you can't make it for some reason. This is extremely important since the budget is set by the number of photographers who will be coming. We lost over $100 last week.

Jason has a stable of models ready to go for us. I think we should have one person coordinating the wrangling for any given event in order to keep track of our needs. As long as Jason is in the loop though, I think you can invite models with reckless abandon.

Grey Duck is aiming for 10 models, that's one model for every three photographers. His models don't usually bail on us but that's obviously not always the case. We could plan for more, but we're still working to get the ratio reasonably consistent.

That was a great location and a great bunch of people. We'll definitely go back there for a shoot in the future. Some of us were talking about doing an event with higher production values and getting TC Vintage in on the action. It would end up costing over $100 per person to put on, but I think it would be worth it.
