Since this is my first me-made-challenge, I'm really learning a lot about what I need for my wardrobe. Both in my options for wear and by being inspired by all of your lovely outfits. Maybe we can share some of what we've learnt about ourselves and our wardrobes.

As for me (so far):
I need more basic clothes in neutral colours.
Prints are fun, but solids might be more practical (related to my first point as well)
Nordic patterns are easier for me to work with (they are usually made for women with curves)

What I've learnt from the other participants is to dare to wear colourful, pretty clothes, not to worry that I might be overdressed.

Have you learnt anything worth sharing? Maybe the rest of us can learn from you as well.

You beat me to it! I was just going to post this question.

I have learnt that it is easier to wear your me mades than you think! I honestly thought I would struggle but I'm half way through and haven't agonised over what I was going to wear once. Which is highly unusual for me.
I also identified the holes in my wardrobe so I know for the next challenge. I would agree with the print and neutral thing! I could wear a lot more stuff with a few more plains. However I have been building up the plain fabric in my stash for that ready as I had anticipated that would happen. I am lacking a few comfy skirts and dresses for leggings, As well as trousers and shorts. I also think knit tops are invaluable! I think by next June I will try to go wholly handmade!

Another thing I thought of is that I shouldn't get cheap when buying fabrics. High quality fabrics are more expensive, but they are easier to work with and the finished garments look better.

I've realized the importance of accessories. During the last me-made event I participated in, I hardly wore any belts or jewelry. I've started adding a piece or two to every outfit and am surprised at how much more polished I feel.

I still need more sweaters :P. And I wish I wore my skirts more (somehow I find it easier to wear dresses than skirts... how odd). It's great to have a warm(ish) me-made month, though, it's quite a bit different than the last one. :)

Like others, I've realized that as much as I love crazy prints, I do need more solids to pair with them. Also, I should make more dresses because they're so easy to wear--one garment is an instant outfit!

I ditto what everyone has said re: neutrals and accessories! Plus I really need to make more pants. When I go to work (I'm a teacher) I prefer to wear pants so that I don't have to worry about what happens when I bend over or open my legs a little too wide!

I completely agree - I need more neutrals! Just basic/classic/timeless pieces that I can mix and match with trends. Additionally, for the next challenge I'd really like to have a piece of outerwear completed (sweater, trench, etc), and I definitely plan to have several more accessories in the form of belts, scarves, and a handbag, for those days where you're in a bind!

Thanks for starting this thread, I LOVE hearing everyone's thoughts that have come from these challenges.

I could do with finishing some of my plans for day-appropriate dresses. As Stacybeads says, one garment = outfit complete!

I could also do with more cardi's but I'm going to wait until we start getting knitwear in again at work as it gets colder and hopefully find some more pieces to refashion.

Oh, and I've learnt I can rock high-waisted shorts HARD! As long as I'm wearing opaque tights!

I've learnt how few clothes I really actually need... It probably seems like I have a tiny wardrobe because of the small number of dresses I have been wearing... I started off this month travelling with only 4 dresses but since I have come home I just continue wearing those dresses anyway because I love them... I might try to be a bit more varied for the rest of June :)

I agree with the sentiments above.

I've learn't that I could do with making some more casual/workwear type dresses as that is usually my outfit of choice and during me-made June I haven't really had any me-made dresses that I could wear on a daily basis.

When I did the Rainbow week challenge I sorted my me -made wardrobe by colour and learn't that I have a surprising amount of me-made clothes in colours that I wouldn't say I am particulalry fond of (yellow!) and none in what I consider my favourite colour (Green).

I've also reminded myself that I don't need to rush to make something so that I can wear it straight away. I know I am going to get much more enjoyment and longevity out of something if I find the right fabric rather than just snaffling up whatever is available from the shop. And also take my time to do a muslin to get the right fit, This however is something I have realised and still not necessarily learnt.

I've learned that it's ok for a piece to take a good chunk of time to make (I'm spoiled by quick little kids patterns) as long as I will truly wear the finished product. Wearing it with pride is pay-off enough for the hours of work.

I've learned that I CAN work the vintage look. I've always admired outfits that have a bit of vintage flair, but have always assumed that I would look costumey if I tried. But I can SO make it work. And I am SO enjoying it!

I'm trying to learn that it's ok to wear a dress on day's other than Sunday. This is a particularly good thing since I am most attracted to dress patterns and the majority of my me-mades are dresses.

I learned that my whole wardrobe can't be prints. I need some solids and basics. Every time I spend money on fabric, I want a big beautiful print, but solids can be beautiful too!
