About Mjóifjörður

Mjóifjörður is the next fjord south of Seydisjörður. This fjord is flanked on both sides by spectacular cliffs. The several abandoned turf farnsteads, the early 20th century Norwegian whaling station at Asknes, the 19th century wooden church at Brekka and the Dalatangi lighthouse ruins are worth visiting.

Thanks to the dearth of sheep in Mjóifjörður, parts of the district are covered with blueberries, which are ripe for the picking in late August.
