About Mixed Media Embroidery Gallery

In keeping with the Freedom of Stitch philosophy (which is about embracing one's right to mix all media with all stitch) the Mixed Media Embroidery Gallery seeks to gather works from all those stitchers who like to throw a dab of everything arty into the art pan and see what cooks up. SO: Paper, metal, plastic, fabric; from traditional embroidery to contemporary fiber shenanigans; paint, collage, dyeing, etc, ---as long as it has stitch combined with an element of some media other than thread--it counts.

Now some have asked: hand vs. machine--are they both ok? It wouldn't be FREEdom of stitch if I banned the machines, so yes machine embroidery is ok, but by hand is our first choice. Whichever you choose, be fearless, be creative, and it's all good. Be warned: we want to be dazzled! Don't just cross stitch a journal page border and call it "mixed media embroidery"--that's cheating and you know it!

Note: this is an all ages show, so keep it tasteful! And because it's a SHOW and not a SHOP, keep your selling separate. Flickr's rules are very specific: this is a place to SHARE, not a place to SELL. Please don't dump a bunch of for-sale items in our pool with nothing but a shop link -- it's rude & it violates the Flickr site standards.
Finally, As our atmosphere is largely one of sharing to learn & be inspired - please feel free to offer a link to something we can LEARN from you (tutorials, classes, tips & tricks, work-in-process blogs, etc), just remember we want to see EXAMPLES shared for art's sake, and will investigate your profile & "other life’s offerings" based on what we see.
