About Mis en Place
A collection of images featuring the "mis en place" of baking or cooking.
Literally translated "set in place”. Pronounced mizɑ̃ˈplas.
A French phrase defined by the Culinary Institute of America as "everything in place". It is used in U.S. kitchens to refer to the ingredients, such as cuts of meat, relishes, sauces, par-cooked items, spices, freshly chopped vegetables, and other components that a cook requires for the menu items that they expect to prepare during their shift. Get it all out and set it all up before you start. You'll never bake unprepared again.
::: Please add tag "mis en place" ::::
Please note that both "mis en place" & "mise en place" are correct. mise is the active form of mis in French.
(mis=place or set, mise=placing or setting)
