About Millennium Triathlon

West Michigan Multisports Racing (WMMR) has been given the approval from the Kent County Parks and Recreation Department to host the 1st Annual Millennium Triathlon at Millennium Park on the morning of August 9th 2008. WMMR is a recently formed local non-profit group passionate about supporting the area’s youth and growing the sport of triathlon. The charities that have been targeted for this event are the Kids’ Food Basket, the Children’s Assessment & Advocacy Centers, the Kent County Parks Foundation, and the Grand Rapids YMCA’s Healthy U program. We would love to be able to have some photographers on hand to take photos of the event, particularly the participants. Since we are a non-profit organization we want to cut every corner possible in order to maximize the contributions to our selected charities; that said, we are looking for 8 - 12 local photographers/enthusiast to volunteer their time/service. The relatively short length of the event was chosen to encourage many first time athletes to participate in the event. They will be using it as an opportunity to get their feet wet in the sport before moving on to longer events like the popular Reed’s Lake Triathlon. With that in mind, our goal is to use this flickr group as a location where people can check out photos of the event and the participants all at no charge to the users. We think this will help insure a good experience for individuals new to the sport.
