I'm going to be posting one recent photo from our pool every week to highlight some of the great photography you are all sharing. Let us know how you feel about the photograph (especially if it happens to be yours).

Our first featured photo comes from Atomische • Tom Giebel.

This week's photo comes from our frequent contributer, Trish Mayo. She made it up to the Cloisters two Sundays ago for a Medieval costume demonstration. Thanks for sharing these photos, Trish.

Here's this week's photo (only a day late). It was taken by Bobolink221 at the Cloisters on March 7.

This photo, entitled Kings 34/365, is day 34 of Bobolink221's 365 days of photos. Read her entry about this photo on her blog.

taigatrommelchen submitted a whole set of photos featuring different arrangements of flowers in the Great Hall. With flowers now blooming on the trees outside, I thought featuring these photos was appropriate.

PierreCinqChamps' photos of the gardens at the Cloisters may be from last June but they're a nice reminder of what's now only a few months away.

Hard Seat Sleeper has nicely captured the bamboo forest (Doug + Mike Starn on the Roof: Big Bambú) that's sprung up on the roof.

KeatsAndKeats added some really great photos this past week. I really like this one in particular of Ellsworth Kelly's Spectrum V.

What can I say? I'm a sucker for symmetry. Here's a nice one from rverc, a regular group contributer.

I thought that I'd mix it up a bit this week and select a photo from way back in the pool. I found this one taken by Michael Cinique in 1987 on page 155 of the group pool.

I love everything about this photo: the moment, the expression on the woman's face, the framing, the square format, but I especially love the light.

It looks as though it was taken at that moment in the evening when the sun bounces off the windows of the buildings across 5th Avenue and shines through the trees onto the plaza in front of the Museum.

You might want to consider displaying the winners in reverse order so that the most recent shows first.

Thank you.

I chose this photo from the newest batch added to the group pool this week. Adam Ames cleverly incorporates a painting within a painting, within a painting, within a photo.

Taa daa!

@Love Light: I wish we could but since we're selecting a new photo every week, we're only able to add the posts at the end of the thread. If anyone knows of a way to reverse the order please let us know.

Croncast communicates the emotional power of Franz Xaver Messerschmidt's A Hypocrite and Slanderer, ca. 1770–83, through his tight, close crop.

Unique composition from rverc this week. I really like the curve that's echoed throughout the photograph. Also, the perspective and crop plays with one's sense of scale so you're not sure if you're looking at a miniature figurine measuring only a few inches or a sculpture that's actually over four feet long.

Most photos taken at the Met are of the Met and the art within in it. There's no doubt that you're in the Museum. I feel that Michael Ryan's photo uses the Museum's period rooms in the American Wing more as a set for some other story independent of the Met. He's able to restore the space's purpose from installation to a room for living.
