Club Interbellum presents: "CLUB TABAC". Possibly the largest cultural cross-reality event of 2008.

Club Tabac is inter-connecting 5 physical spaces and 5 virtual spaces: The event rooms at the cultural & political centre De Balie (Amsterdam, The Netherlands) and the SL sims Amsterdam, Groningen, Virtual Holland Future, Club Maya, and SL5B Copy.

This is the last saturday ever in the history of The Netherlands that smoking will be allowed in theatres, clubs, bars, restaurants, coffeeshops and so. The new Dutch public places smoking-ban law takes effect on july 1st 2008.

Club Tabac investigates, celebrates and critizises the smoking culture with: pro-smoking versus contra-smoking debates with politicians, activists, consumers, philosophers, manufacturers and scientists.

Multiple spaces with live music, DJ’s, VVJ’s, art exhibitions, art performances and much much more. Physical as well as virtual! RL live mixing physical and virtual images and sounds on audio & video livestreams on the web and inside Second Life. And on large physical video projection screens at De Balie halls.

Because its Second Life's 5th birthday, we provide free wireless internet and tables with extra powersockets at the Club Tabac party. Bring your laptop, sigarettes and avatar: celebrate SL5B in RL! Tickets refunded for first 5 laptops showing SL at the RL party (Free non-smoking terrace with WiFi also available)

BEST SMOKING AVATAR 2008 CONTEST

The most popular avatar is chosen by SL audience in the categories 'sexy smoking-fetish’ and ’best smoking celebrity look-alike’ and 'most creative smoking avatar'. The final winner is is chosen by a Real Life audience. Total prizemoney: L$ 25000! (Twentyfive Thousand Linden Dollars!!!).



Club Interbellum is a non-profit organisation funded by 'the Amsterdam Fund for the Arts' organising bi-montly cultural events around current political themes.
