About Jewelers, Metalsmiths, Lapidarists Professionals Group
About posting your photos:
Please remember this group is dedicated to handcrafted metal arts, and lapidary arts. if all you've done is put components together, or your work is a beading piece; please refrain from asking to post it here. although there are many beautiful pieces as such, this isn't the group for them. I have noticed too, some of our members I think hand craft their components, and submit items which are made from this. I can’t tell the difference in some cases, so your items may not be admitted. Let’s try to steer away from anything that may fall in to a grey area here. Again. This group is about hand crafted. It should be clear that it isn’t made from your run of the mill store bought goods. Which I think is true here 99% of the time.
Your works should consist of items fabricated from basic metal supplies, generally. sheet metals, tubing, wire. etc. or your personally cut and carved gemstones, -with or without metal adornments;) if your work is made from a material , such as wood, although lovely, it may not be admitted. The focus here it metals and lapidary. I have seen some amazing wood jewelery, but it isn’t the focus here. Mixed media is ok, as long as there is a good portion of metals as well. One last comment about materials. If it isn’t obvious what your jewelery is made from, please be sure it has tags, or comments in the description when you submit it, so I don’t have to ask. I may just not allow the photo, based on lack of information. Unfortunately.
First; please go to the forum topics and read the one about Flickr Terms Of Use. If you violate the rules, I will not submit your photos. For example - you may not list your business name, website, links etc. (Many of you have been)
This is a group for working professionals. Unique, handcrafted original works. While I applaud originality, and uniqueness, please do not post Experimental type works here, or concept items. It's for real world sell-able items.
Only high quality, finished work will be submitted. No works in progress. If the work does not appear to be of a well made or higher quality nature, it will not be submitted.
Please add ONLY your favorite image of your piece, similar extras may be denied posting to the group- , unless there is merit (REALLYYY good merit) to additional photos. if it is an interesting back, or alternative view that we might never have know, then I will gladly admit the photos.
Your photos are most likely to be accepted when they are focused on just the jewelry. Not models. I find the hands and a necks and such just take away from what this group is dedicated to. So although your photos ( and models) might be lovely, chances are good they will not be admitted to the pool. Please choose a different photo of your item to submit. Lets post our best, most professional shots of our work here. Not necessarily the most artistic, or bright, or creative, but our show shots. (I personally take at least 2 to 3 different rounds of shots, depending on what I am using them for. )
So to be clear- your photos must: focus on the jewellery, be clearly focused, well lit, and of good quality. And please submit photos of only one piece of work, not piles of it. Though a small collection would be acceptable.
Thanks for your understanding and cooperation!
Happy creating!!!!
