About Messages to Iranians
On June 26th, Iranians introduced their latest creative protest when they began releasing green balloons from rooftops. We believe that the US should stay out of any internal Iranian politics, but as individual Americans we wanted to show our solidarity.
So we set up on a table in Davis Square, Somerville, MA, and started collecting messages to Iranians to attach to our own green balloons. Of course, our messages are unlikely to reach Iran via balloon, so we photographed the messages and we're posting them here. Feel free to add messages to Iranians that you collect.
Note: Releasing balloons isn't so great for the environment, but its not really necessary to release them in this case, since the balloons are symbolic. We left it up to participants whether they wanted to release their balloons. At the end of the day we tied some of the remaining balloons outside our house. We encourage others to collect messages and use green balloons to remind your neighbors and friends that the Iranian people continue to fight for their rights.
