About Melastomataceae This is a group for posting photos of plants in the very large and charismatic family Melastomataceae. This family is comprised almost entirely of tropical and subtropical woody plants, from small herbaceous species to shrubs and even large rainforest trees and lianas. Many melastomes have large, very showy flowers, and many are cultivated in tropical and warm-temperate gardens.	Additional Information This is a public group.
