About Medicinal, Aromatic and Wild (or rare) Edible Plants

Preference is given to identified plants. If you do not know a (scientific) name of the plant, please, indicate for which quality it is used and the region where a pic has been taken. Rare cultivated vegetables and fruit plants and edible flowers are also welcome, though they might be are product of artificial selection and far not rare in some regions. I think, people will enjoy seeing here some specific landscapes with above mentioned plants, scenes of production and selling and places where people come to be acquainted with plants .

Pictures will be tagged with abbreviation of the group (MAWEP) automatically. I may add Latin names if they are lacking and if I am able to identify the plant. I add names in other languages sometimes, usually in English.

Your photos become more informative for other members if you tag them with words describing the use of a plant, e.g. "medicinal", "edible", "food", "tea", "culinary herb", "famine food", etc., or branch, country, which uses a certain herb, e.g. India, USA, Cameroon, "Australian Aboriginal food", "Malayan herbs", "Ayurvedic herb", "Chinese herb", "Arab herbal medicine", "native American medicine", "Amazon fruits", etc.

Note: Some medicinal plants have toxic and other dangerous properties or are not used as medicinal herbs anymore. But they may be included for historical reasons and interestingness to this pool. Besides some medicinal herbs are used only externally or only in aromatherapy. Remember please that not all plants presented here are truly edible.

The administrator leave her a right to remove pictures from the pool, if pictures are out of the scope of the group or are not suitable for other serious reasons.
