About Strike Witches & Mecha Musume

"Half chick, half fighter plane, all awesome."

Mecha Mumsume is a term originally coined by Shimada Humikane for his artwork mixing cute girls with military hardware. His character designs typically feature armor based on various real world and fictional vehicles, predominantly retro fighter aircraft and tanks, but modern and futuristic influences aren't rare. The most prominent example of his work is the Strike Witches franchise, where young soldiers with special powers defend an alternate WWII era Earth from a strange alien menace. Pure ridiculous fun.
