I know the mechs have to be 'fig scale, but can alien mechs have an operator who's built into or integrated with the mech?
I'm thinking something vaguely Protoss Dragoon-esque.

Cooking up something nice currently. Went with idea of integrating the alien with the mech. It's not Protoss Dragoon-esque though. Does a mech have to have legs? I wanted this one to have tentacles and hover.

I'm taking that to mean we can construct our own alien operators that are not fig scale. Is that correct?

Frog946, I thought I send you a flickr response. I guess it didn't go through. I'd prefer folks not post prematurely lest they lose any advantage too soon to any competitors but alas, that is your choice.
I am also worried that the tentacle thing might be overused. If many of you choose to go that route, be prepared to have a crowded wagon. Keep an ace up your sleeve.

It will be judged by a super secret committee of elitist bastards, the afol community at large is ill-equipped to properly decide.
On a side note:
Now that is what I call an alien mecha! Simply tossing an alien fig pilot into an "inside the box" mecha doesn't cut the mustard. If it wasn't already old I'd call him the winner right here and now.
You guys have just over 5 days. I'm sure some of you ace builders can whip up a redo.

Replace your previous entries. There is no point in keeping them in because to be honest, I won't really consider them. As nice as all of the Alien entries have been, they really were not what I had in mind when I made this contest.
To be "fair" I will push the due date back a week. September 13th is the new deadline.

Is there a definition of what an alien mech should look like? How the hell should we know. I'm kinda wondering whats worse and whats better . A mech that uses alien cliches (tentacles , tripod , squid-like) or one that has a huminoid robotechish body

I see it as anything that looks "alien" -- i.e. not your typical mecha. Not like something a human would pilot; perhaps more organic, but not necessarily. More outlandish shapes and forms, unique types of guns (if any), new forms of locomotion. Aliens' mech tech would develop differently than humans'; try to change as much as possible from your standard mech, while retaining something that lets you know that it is, despite its differences, still a mech.
All IMHO, of course; I don't know exactly what F-Dawg had in mind.
