10 Jan 09 - Everybody please post as many MCT Trail photos as you can! The MCT is a very amazing, unique trail system, and we should all treasure it, as most people don't have good bikeway systems near their homes. We're very lucky to have such a nice system, so show your pride, and send lots of pictures=)
The MCT Trails is one of the best trail systems in the country, so please take lots of pictures! Few other people get to enjoy 85 miles of trails in their county or city!

About Madison County Trails

Madison County, Illinois-which is part of the St. Louis, Missouri metroeast area- has over 85 miles of trails for walking, biking, and other trail activites. Most of the trails are rails-to-trails conversions, which are trails built in the right-of-way of old railroad tracks. The western half of Madison County has lots of trees and rolling hills whereas the eastern half is flatter with fewer trees and more farmland, making for a unique ride wherever you are on the trails. Currently, my favorite trail is the new trail at the new Ray M. Schon Memorial Park in Glen Carbon. Glen Carbon is basically the hilliest village in Madison County as it is the westernmost village in Madison County and is built into the bluffs, rather than ontop of. I enjoy riding my bike on these trails because they are lined with lots of wooded areas-even the trails with subdivisions next to them have atleast 50-100 feet of trees separating them. I also love to go fast on the trails. And no horses or automobiles are allowed on the trails-just humans, pets, bikes, roller blades, etc. If you have any pictures of Madison County's trails, or you want to learn more about these trails, it would be a great idea for you to join this group.
