About The Flash Mob
The Monitoring Basic Skills Progress Photo Assignment is a group for photographers to suggest assignments to each other, and critque the artwork submitted for each project. We do not expect rampant progress as we all have lives, however a project or two a week is what we have in mind.
We have created this group to enhance our skills as photographers, to be a source of inspiration and communication. All are welcome to participate, though as new people join we'll work out the dynamics of how the assignments will evolve over time.
Assignments will involve subjects, concepts, techniques, and perhaps eventually some photo editing skills.
Overall we do not intend to hold assignments where a "winner" is assigned. However, occasionally we plan to do so. This will include an assignment to come up with a new group icon quarterly.
----
To participate in an assignment:
1. Review the thread for the assignment.
2. Photograph based on the subject, concept, technique, or lighting.
3. Post your image to your flickr account. (See below for rules on editing)
4. Add the image the the group pool and ensure you have the assignment tag on your photo. ("MBSP-####" -- where #### is the photo assignment number, please use all four digits, 1 is "0001")
5. When the deadline has passed, please comment on all other submissions for that assignment with one pro, and one con.
----
Heavy editing is acceptable on subject/concept assignments, and discouraged on technical/lighting assignments.
Heavy photo editing shall be defined as vignettes, frames, colorizing (sepia/B&W), HDR, any filters applied for artistic effect, or general "photoshopping." If you feel the need to have a "more finalized" version, feel free to post it within the comments of the "official submission" for technical assignments.
Acceptable photo editing shall always include color balancing, "curves," brightness correction, and contrast correction when applied to the whole image.
Up for review for addition as photo editing that's always acceptable is teeth whitening and blemish correction. Blemishes (e.g. pimples and injuries) being anything part of a person that is not permanent (scars, moles, or freckles.)
