About Matchpoint - T175 R4 Open; T176 "Motion" R2; T177 Signing Up

MatchPoint - Photographic tournaments, photo contests if you prefer, intended to be fun to watch and fun to play. A tournament consists of a series of one-to-one matches. In each match, opponents each enter a picture of their choice to meet a predetermined theme. Winners of first-round matches advance to the second round; those winners advance to the third, and so on to the final match.


FAQ

“How do I sign up for a match?”
•Sign up for a Tournament by adding “in” to the “Sign Up” thread.
•Sign up for as many tournaments as you want to.
•Admins will post the tournament grid when sign-up closes.

“How do I play in a match?”
• Admins create a thread for each match. Each match has two competing photos.
•Find your match and post a “Medium 500 size” photo.
•Post a photo that has never won a Matchpoint match.
•You can add a short description/comment to your image. After you post your photo, you may not change your photo nor comment on the match.
•You must post a photo within 48 hours of the match being opened.
•If you don’t post a photo within 48 hours or do play a photo which has already won a match, your photo will be disqualified.

“What’s that about a Medium 500 size photo?”
•On your photo's Flickr page, click on “Share” and go to “Grab the HTML/BB code”.
•Select “Medium 500" HTML option.
•Copy and Paste into your entry post.

“How do I win a match?”
•Voters will vote for your photo, or your opponent’s photo.
•If there are 20 or more entrants you need 8 votes to win (10 in the Final) with a margin of at least 2 votes.
•If there are 19 or fewer entrants you need 6 votes to win (8 in the Final) with a margin of 2 votes.

“What’s next?”
•Tag your winning image with “matchpointwinner” and add it to the pool.
•Only match winners are allowed in the pool.
•The next round begins when all the matches in one round have finished.

“Can I vote in a match?”
•YES! Without voters we have no matches. You should vote even if you are knocked out of a tournament or did not sign up for a tournament.
(We love competitors but we love voters more.)
•Voting format : Point 1 @ username.
•Feel free to comment on the reasons for your vote and give constructive criticism.
•If you want to respond to comments on your photo, do it in the Clubhouse after the match has finished.

“How do I suggest a theme?”
•Do it in the *Matchpoint Backroom*.
