About Mask Portraits and Self-Portraits
The art of portraiture and self-portraiture, with masks (NOT post-processing masks). For an excellent article on masks, read the Wikipedia article.
RULES:
Photos must include some kind of a mask, preferably on someone's face, but possibly used in other creative ways. Masks can be full or partial face, any material, from any culture or era, but NO bondage-type masks or blindfolds. Theatre masks, carnival masks, Halloween masks, tribal masks, utilitarian masks, use your imagination! The best photos will use a mask which speaks to the character or personality of the person (or animal) in the portrait. Some evidence of a living being behind the mask is necessary.
To keep the group "safe for everyone" and on-track with the theme, all photos will be moderated before being posted to the pool. This means that I have to approve all photos being posted to the pool. Please do not let this discourage you! I'm online several times a day, so your photos will not linger in the queue very long.
Your photo will be denied from the pool if I see:
* No mask; there's a pretty loose definition here, but no blindfolds.
* Nobody behind the mask; a portrait must include a living being.
* Bondage or violence; there are other groups for those photos.
* Nudity; masked portraits can be sensual, but there is a limit for the purposes of this group.
Please do not re-submit a photo to the pool which has been denied for the above reasons.
If you have any questions, send me a message through Flickrmail or post in the group's discussion board.
