Group Description

This group has been created to be a pool, store and upload site for images of beached marine plastic pollution for the on-line global participatory photo/art project
Marineplastic_org by marine.plastic

I am Steve McPherson an artist from the UK, I have been using marine plastic in my art for nearly 20 years. The on-line project is an extension of my continuing practice and concern for the marine environment. Please visit my website to see my other works.

I have added some example images taken on my local coast to get the group started. Please do submit images when you can to either here or the main project website - details below.

Only images of Plastic objects will be added, which should be accompanied with, and will not be accepted without:

-Your name
-Date you found your plastic object
-Location of the beach (Latitude & Longitude)

If you submit images to the group/pool you will be giving permission for that image to be used digitally (at and otherwise (in a future exhibition or catalog/book - see below for details). All copyright and credits will stay the photographer.

Info below from

This is on-line art project aims to be a place to deposit images of plastic objects found by foragers and beach combers from around the world. I intend it to be a space to hold not just the images of the lost and found objects, but also to record the names of those who find them, and the date and location of the find.

With no definitive end, and as long as participants still keep submitting images, the bank of objects will grow, as will I hope an awareness of the enormity of the plastic pollution of our worldwide oceans.

My long term aim will be to use the images deposited on this website in a real world exhibition and publication, where all contributions would be credited and recognised.

This is a non-profit making art project.
