The Manila Cathedral will surprise and take you to a voyage into discovery of the story of life cycle. The Manila Cathedral is all about the dreams, the fulfillment, the rising, the tragedies, the ruins and rampages, the restorations and the rise once more to its olden beauty, yet again it has sprung back from the scratch, as always, and evolved far enough to reign in its rightful place in the history of the Church and of Manila, as a shining beacon and preserver of the faith in the heart of the Walled City.

The rich and colorful history of the Manila Cathedral, spanning four centuries, its picturesqueness and excellent architecture, and its role in the lives of the faithful as a venue for religious, liturgical, and cultural activities in the Philippines , no doubt, gave the Manila Cathedral a special place in the heart of the Holy Father Pope John Paul II. These have earned for the Manila Metropolitan Cathedral the honor and dignity of the title “Minor Basilica.”
