7 October sounds good to me, Mike! I live really close to the airport so all other things (family etc.) allowing I'd be glad to pick you guys up from there.
How about everyone else? Up for a Flickr meet on 7 October? If there's enough interest I'll do an Upcoming thingy. :-)

The only thing I can find is the Manchester Food and Drink Festival, with food stalls in Albert Square & St Ann's Square.
OK, we've got enough people up for this to go official on Upcoming I reckon!
upcoming.yahoo.com/event/240786/
I've proposed meeting in Exchange Square since St Ann's Square will be busy with the food festival. Also we've got an earlier time than usual since Mike's flying in especially for us. ;-) Maybe we could split this up into meeting for lunch (at Night & Day?) at 12, then the usual meet time of nearer 2pm? What do folks think?

Just thinking: last time the Font Bar narrowly missed out as lunch venue (despite curly fries!). How about meeting there for lunch this time?
And if so, I'd suggest we arrange the later (1.45pm-ish) meet somewhere closer than Exchange Square. How about St Peters Square?
So... how's this sounding for an agenda then?
12:00 - Food at Font (CURLY FRIES!!)
1:45 - Meet at St Peters Square
2:00 - Drinking at Mr Thomas's Chop House
If there are enough thumbs up I'll do the deed on Upcoming.

OK everyone, it's all official!

ITINERARY
12:00pm - Font Bar for lunch (for anyone who's up for it)
1:45pm - Meet outside the Central Library on St Peter's Square
2:00pm - Mr Thomas's Chop House for a nice glass of lemonade while we wait for the stragglers
Thereafter - who knows!
Suggestions for the "thereafter" bit would be a good idea so we don't end up wandering aimlessly in the traditional style. :-)
There's always the food festival. Mmm, food......

This is shaping up nicely!
The Upcoming page has the address and links to more maps than you can shake a stick at. (Well, two.) It's just off Oxford Road, just a stone's throw away from Oxford Road station and the Cornerhouse. Hope to see you there!

well spotted kuba. well, i will be meeting you all for a spot of lunch and then will head off to the ground to watch it (it's only a 15 min walk). it doesn't look as though it is on sky although it will be on one of the dodgy arabic channels. the problem will be with who is showing it.
the alternative is to come to the football and watch it live! all those who are in say aye!
...... just me then ;)

@kubacheck: Why fly from Glasgow to Manchester? It's only three hours in the car and less by train.
I shall endeavor to be there!

@Jez: we won't have a car, and looking at the rail schedules, there wasn't a trip less then 3:30 and none that would get us there until early afternoon, which I thought was too late..... I'll just have to do Glasgow on my next trip over, I don't think it's going anywhere :-)
@spiderpops: I'd have loved to have gone to that match, but it thought it would be rude of me to have caused all these plans to have been made then run off to the football game..... besides (and please forgive me, since I know you're all Man City fans), I booked a couple of tix for the Man U match on saturday..... really wanted to see a match this time over, checked the schedule, and that's how I knew about the Man City game..... settled on the other one specifically because it did not interfere with the flickr meet.... now I'm just waiting for my ticket application to be approved, they'll let me know in a couple of days... I think they want to make sure I'll be rooting for Man U, cause they have a note on the ticket page that says something like "you will be sitting in a Manchester United fans section. If it is deemed that you are rooting for the opponent, you face possible removal from the game".....

It's right near the central library/Midland Hotel/top end of Oxford Road. Nearest carpark is G-Mex but it's very pricey: I'd recommend parking up outside town and coming in by tram. (There's a tram stop at St Peter's Square.)
There will be plenty of walking unless you just want to seit taking pictures of the inside of the pub (It has been done before... :¬)

"central library/Midland Hotel/top end of Oxford Road." - don't know where any of those places are!
I know oxford road, but only where the station and the academy are.
Would I be best getting a train to oxford road station? Although it'll be sunday hours right...so i'd have to be lucky with my times. Other than that, I know of free parking opposite the academy - portsmouth street I think - although that could be miles away.
If there's plenty of walking then i'll have to forget bringing my studio set up and just bring 3 bodies, 5 lenses and 2 flashes :P...i'm kidding...i'll settle for the one body :)

@Night Photographer - Oxford Road Station is really close to the library and St Peters Square - turn left up Oxford Road as you come out of the station and it's about a five minute walk.
If you park at the Academy there will be loads of buses you can get into town - 42 or 142 buses run regularly (about every ten minutes), even on Sundays. Get a Magic bus if you can - they're cheaper. Ask for St Peters Square, and get off outside the library - you can't miss it - big round cream building with pillars at the front.

Hope you see this in time, and apologies for not posting sooner. It's actually dead easy to find.
DIRECTIONS
- Start at Oxford Road station / the Cornerhouse
- Head down Oxford Road (away from Manchester) just a hundred yards or so
- Right after the railway bridge turn right onto New Wakefield Street
- Font is a little way down on your left.
Look out for the squiggly sign!

And here's a Google map.
See y'all at 12!
